Even though Jomaa has had the highest ratings throughout his mandate and that many have said that he could be the next head of government of a potential Ennahda/ Nidaa sponsored national unity governement, Jomaa met with representatives of the national and international media in the last two days to reiterate the message he has been conveying since he took office:"I am not staying".
This is a good news for the democratic transitiona and an excellent message to the different parties and the international community. The timing of this announcement is also interesting. Is he under pressure from a certain group? Is the situation that bad economically that he does not want to extend his tenure? Or is it a recognition that he does not have enough political capital with the main political parties that he prefers to announce his departure before others build their campaign on his name or criticizing his governement's results.
